Hello, friends! It has been quite some time since I have posted anything and I've been dealing with a little bit of guilt over that.
Here's the thing, when something becomes a stressor in your life, I think it's important to step away from it.
Including your closet.
This blog was exciting and simultaneously overwhelming. I kept wanting to do posts on my exciting capsule wardrobe, but here's what happened: life. And while I experienced a bunch of changes, my wardrobe did not.
But in a good way.
Since my last post I have started a new job (yay!) and have almost completely ignored fashion.
So I had purged and purged before in preparation for buying a bunch of new clothes, and it just never happened.
Instead it has been about slow purchases. Instead it was about wearing what I've got. And let me tell you something...
I have felt such freedom.
Since letting go of this ideal of what I would feel when embracing a new and spectacular wardrobe, I have spent a lot less time focusing on what I wear each morning and a lot less time thinking about what I am going to buy.
I don't know why I would be surprised, the big names in the simple style blogging world have said it time and again, but experiencing it for yourself is such a difference from reading it.
I've been making informed purchases with a lot of thought behind them, but it has not been taking over my life.
I am considering revisiting my capsule wardrobe again, but for now I want to continue focusing on basics.
It's important that I remember why I started this blog: to share my progress towards simplicity.
And I have made a lot of progress, so in that way I should feel no guilt.
I'm happy to be back and this time with hopefully more peace!
Where are you in simplifying your wardrobe?
